Sequence of failure
The offshore crane standard EN 13852-1 applies to old cranes that are operating in the North Sea.
| One of the consequences of this standard is that the rig owner must document that deck cranes are in compliance with a recognised industrial standard. The minimum level of safety shall correspond to EN 13852-1. Axess can assist in the documentation process necessary by performing advanced crane calculations that include both sequence of failure calculations and simulation of the response from the AOP (Automatic Overload Protection) system. The results from the steel structure capacity calculations are compared with the response from the AOP system. Typical results from this analysis are shown in the figure below (ref. EN 13852-1). |
